Here is a taste of the Growler project I have been working on. These are my first Growlers painted up, aside from a not so great Razorfang I did years ago and my Neo-Soviet Irontusk.

I used all GW paints including their new foundation paint Merchite Red and Necron Abyss(Dark Blue). This was only my second attempt with the foundation paints of any kind and I was extremely impressed. The colors are super smooth and go over dark colors extremely well.

Let me know what you think!

Yeah, they provide awesome coverage. All of the Growlers were primed black, base coated in black and then the red was applied.

ya i like the foundation paints, there quick and easy, has anyone tried the new washes yet?

also i met a guy a while back that used windsor and newton acrylics for his projects, you can use this cheap stuff called color float, and it really makes your fades and gradients blend really well, i use windsor and newton inks, they work really well.

for me tho i use primarily vallejo , some gw, but mostly vallejo. I like the dropper bottles.
i hate gw's pots, especially the foundation paint pots, but they serve their purpose , ya know.

Really nice miniatures!

I was thinking of buying some of the foundation paints myself. Any chance of a bit of a review of them as they seem to get great coverage and still get good results!

Hello again, just got a question about the red. I haven't worked with the GW Foundation paints before, but I've been using the regular GW paints for years.

How did you highlight the Mechrite Red? Their red skin so vibrant, I would like to use it on part of my bluefang.

I picked up the issues of White Dwarf that dealt with using the Foundation paints pretty well.(I know the mag. is mostly a waste of money but these were one of the few articles that were worth keeping around.) The Articles gave charts of what to use for base colors and how to highlight. The base is Mechrite Red, highlighted with Blood red, and a second highlight of Blazing Orange.

Thanks for recipe, I'll hunt down that issue too.

Those are very nice! Excellent rendition of the traditional Razorback colors.
