SKUZZY, please sticky this.

Unofficial GOLDEN GROWLER Painting Competition!!!

After discussing how we could better help get VOR gamers more excited (as if that were possible given Skuzzy’s announcement) Twisted Victor and I decided a Golden Growler competition would be a fun idea. I ran the idea by Skuzzy and he thought it would be totally cool! So here we go! I will be hosting the competition pics over at our site http://www.wargamefans.net for viewing, and the discussion section will obviously take place here on the VOR forums. There will be three judges involved with the contest Skuzzy, Twisted Victor, and me (Merc). Since we are the judges we will not participate! I want this to be fun and fair! Yes, there will be trophies, for both first and second places. A Golden Growler…obviously for first and a silver for second! There will also be a random drawing for a $10 gift certificate to Iron Wind Metals that all who participate will be eligible for. I know ten bucks isn’t much, but you should see the gas prices here…gheesh! So without further mind numbing writing, here are the rules!

UPDATES: Official date for submissions has been changed to JUNE 30TH to allow for shipping considerations and to help pull in a larger crowd. Also, Rule number two has been amended for some special circumstances for all to have a little more freedom in this competition! Enjoy!

1.Please, paint something new for the contest. As we are trying to get people in full gear for the NEW relaunch effort, a NEW paint job is our goal.

2.Please submit only official VOR models. Anything produced, including prototypes are fine. We have a contest idea for mods at a later date, so please, just a stock model for now. EDIT: After a few people addressed their desire to submit minorly modified units we have reconsidered this rule a bit. Pose changes, weapon alterations amd other MINOR modifications that stay true to the model are acceptable. If you need feedback on the changes you've made, please PM me with details. We don't want anyone missong out because of this rule. However, the model will not be judged on the modification. We have an idea for a heavy mod special character competition later this summer, so keep the big ideas for then. My goal is two more competitions before the relaunch, and then who knows what ideas we'll come up with?! I apologize if this screws up anyone's plans already in the works!

3.Please fully paint and base your models. As long as the model fits on its base, any base, that is totally fine! If you want to do up some majorly awesome base, please do, just make sure it’s not the entire focus of the piece, we want to see your awesome painting skills on the VOR mini. I also have an idea for a diorama contest at a later date as well, so please keep that in mind!!!

4.Please submit no more than (2) images at 600x600 pixels for posting and judging to vorgames@yahoo.com . This is a good size for viewing and easy for me to post on the site! Please also include your personal contact info and VOR forums I.D.

5.Please just HAVE FUN! This is a community effort to bring out everyone for an event to support our favorite game! Don’t be shy, there is no shame in anything if you try, and it takes a great deal of courage to challenge yourself publicly! Let’s do this and have a blast, we’re very excited!

Contest deadline: Please have all submissions in by 11:59.59 p.m. US Central Time on Monday JUNE 30TH. I will get to work on the site as soon as I get home from work. If this will be a problem for anyone please contact me at vogames@yahoo.com with questions or concern.s You can also contact me here if needed, I check both religiously!

Judging Criteria: There will be four main topics we will judge on.
1.Attention to detail. Speaks for itself. Show the models strengths, and improve any weakness. Let’s see how awesome these minis really can be!

2.Color. Does it stand out or blend in? Depth and contrast?

3.Presentation. Is the work a complete package? This doesn’t mean you have to go crazy, just make it look complete from top to bottom.

4.Presence. Is the model the focus? I love a great base job, but this time out we’re looking for playability and appearance. Can I put it on the board for play and still wow the crowd without it being cumbersome?
If possible I would also like to have a poll set up here or on IWM for public voting as well, just to get community feedback and opinion! I don't know if we have a polling ability here, maybe Skuzzy could give us some feedback on this.

The scale will be based on 5 points. 5 being the top rung, meeting all requirements, while 1 is merely in need of improvement. We’re not looking to hurt anyone’s feelings, so don’t be embarrassed. We will tally all scores and take the average to decide the winner. Any tied votes will be re-judged. We will not disclose anybody’s points unless they ask us to discretely, we aren’t looking to down anyone, just to have a friendly competition!

START PAINTING FRIENDS!

You don't have to miss out on this one! Join up, we aren't excluding anyone! It's all online, so Australia isn't an issue! Please don't feel that your location is a hinderance!
